The fact that an older Warren Jourdan obit appeared in the Columbus GA (Muscogee Co) newspaper in 1844 interests me since my Warren Jourdan married in Russell Co AL (across the river from Columbus GA) 4 years later in 1848 to Winny Wright, after maybe having been in Tenn.. I say that because he says he is from TN in 1850 but all later references to birth say GA. I am speculating his relatives knew he came out of TN from the death/funeral of his possible relative Warren Jordan from GA and simply said "he came out of TN." Just speculation. Warren married Winney Wright and here is a reference to a Wright and a Jordan in the newspaper in Columbus, across from Russel Co AL:

This older Warren Jourdan was born about 1787 and was in the GA state legislature and was married 2 or 3 times. He was the orphan of Benjamin Jourdan and raised by an uncle Josiah Jordan in GA.
As you know the residents of Russell County AL (and sometimes Chambers Co AL) used the services of Columbus, GA getting their mail there, marrying there and doing business. My children are descended from Warren Jordan born between 1811-1823 in GA. He married Winny Wright 3 Nov 1849 Russell, Alabama Performed by Name: H M Crowder. I have a hunch that the older Warren Jourdan who died in 1844 was a relative.

being of sound mind and memory and knowing that it is appointed for all men
to die - do make an ordain the following will and testament hereby revoking
and annulling all heretofore made - written and subscribed with my own hand

Item 1st . I give and bequeath unto my wife Mary J. Jourdan for and during
her natural life all my lands in the county of Hall and the improved lots in
the town of Gainesville and adjacent tracts. Also two Gold lots in the
Cherokee Country drawn by myself - likewise the following Negroes - Davey a

Supposedly he was killed by Indians in Jackson Co. between 12
Sept.1787 when he witnessed the sale of some land in wilkes Co. and
Dec 1787 when he is referred to as deceased in his father's will,, but
I have no proof this being how he died..
According to Bob Jordan (jorbob@webtv.net) Benjamin's estate was
administered by his brother Josiah Jordan in 1789 in Wilkes Co. GA. In
the minutes of the inferior court, Wilkes Co., GA , the sons and
daughters of Benjamin Jourdon asked that their uncle, Josiah Jordon,
be appointed their guardian. It was granted 26 Sept. 1791. Josiah
Jordon is named guardian to the heirs of Benjamin Jourdon, 24
Feb.1801.
According to Suzanne Ammons, a researcher in Wilkes Co., there are
several pages of estate and will papers listed in Will book "DD" of
Wilkes Co., but that it was destroyed by fire in a lawyer's officewho
had borrowed it. Information was listed as being of pages1,22, 150,
151, and 190. A Charles Jordin also was listed in this index of the
years, 1779-1792.
Information about Benjamin is in "Early Records of Ga, Vol. II, p.
344, where there is a long list of estate papers ....who was paid and
so forth.
The only Jourdan/Jordon listed in Wilkes Co. burials of Revolutionary
soldiers was Reuben, of the Va militia.
According the information from Brertuck@aol.com, he was b. 1754, d.
1786 in Jackson Co. GA fighting Indians in Jackson Co.

She was probably the "Lucy" adopted by Josiah. Although somewhere it said there were 5 children- a Mary wasn't mentioned. Mary Polly married Theophilus Hill. His sister Judith Hill was the 1st wife of her guardian Josiah Jordan and they had a child named Patsy (Martha).

VII.— Theophilus Hill (Abraham Abr.=, Henry , 1769- 1829, was a Lieut, in the Indian Wars succeeding the Revolution ("Ga.'s Roster of the Revolution", p. 403; D. A. R. Mag., Vol. 16, p. 352; Records of Executive Council, 1790-'9, pp. 112-113). Re- ceived Bounty Warrant (Ga. Roster of Rev. Soldiers, p. 398; D. A. R. Mag., 1898-1900, p. 365; "Story of Ga.", by Smith), and in Ogle- thorpe Co., Ga., 1794-1800, received grants for self and 14 persons (J. H. Coll., Vol. III). John Jack Floyd, son of Capt. John Floyd and Nancy Andrews, was b.12/27/1794 in Newberry, SC. Probably moved with William, Robert, and Cornelius Floyd about 1836 to Chambers Co., Al. He died 9/2/1883. Married to Frances Tinsley 1816 both buried in Shady Grove Cemetery Opelika, Ala.
Their home was one mile due east of Pine Grove Church, in present say Lee County. Their legacy lies with descendents of son Charles Jefferson (Bean's Mill era), including: the Cullars, Dorseys, Tillerys, the Oakbowery Floyds, and of son John W.'s connections with Benjamin Meadows, Griffins, Pratts, Killians and Osments. John W. Floyd is buried at Hepzibah Cemetery south of Pine Grove; father "Jack" at Shady Grove.

My 4th Great Grandfather was Absalom Adams and he married Elizabeth ?
My Elizabeth would probably not be alive in 1850.
I did hire a man to look up some documents for me in Chambers County last year.
I was trying to find out more information on my 4th great grandmother.
He did find some estate records of a Elizabeth Adams. We determined these records was not about my Elizabeth because if I remember correctly her deceased husband was listed and it was not my Absalom.
This may be your Elizabeth.

I dont even know if Elizabeth Adams 50 (SC) is related to me. She is living next door to Warren Jourdan and John Wright, Winny's brother.
Being an Adams, this probably won't bore you. I have tried over and over again to figure things out thru census data. Thanks so much for informing me about estate papers. I am suspecting that Samuel C. Adams may be a brother in law of hers.
I would like to know the connections of the Floyds to the Adams and if there is one to the Wrights. Winny Wright married Warren Jordan 3 Nov 1849 Russell , Alabama. Elizabeth Adams had at least 2 daughters. Mary Adams married Michael Whitman 16 SEP 1847 in Muscogee GA across the river from Russell Co AL and Frances Adams married Amos Parker 1847 in Russell.

Although most Wrights fled to Quaker country in the north (Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois) between 1810 and 1820 because of the predjudice against their anti-slavers stance, some fled southward into GA and on to AL and Texas.
